The reflection focused on the two words "harmony" and "hope."
OLD BUSINESS
Update on Fund-Raiser: Dave McIntyre
It has been determined that the Diocese has a list of events that are not allowed to be organized on church property. The Carnival fund-raiser is one of them; therefore this will no longer be pursued. An alternate Crafts Faire fund-raiser was proposed for next year in May. This activity will involve the other groups in the church as well and will require coordination. The tentative dates set for this event are May 13th through 15th. Dave McIntyre has volunteered to assist in the plan and coordination of the event.
Maintenance Projects: Painting and Lighting
The painting of the parish and improvement of the lighting will be established as church projects. The scope of these projects will require review by our Finance committee. We may have some volunteers on our list that have experience.
Actions:
a. Submit to Joann a request to determine liabilities for contractors.
b. Julian to call PG&E for a lighting efficiency review of the church
c. Submit a review to our Finance committee
d. Submit request and review volunteer list with Clyde
Alan Layden spoke of a man in the Knights who might be able to help with the overall maintenance of the church in last month’s council meeting. His name is Bill Rusch and Alan said he will talk to him and let the Council know more next month. Alan was not present so these comments were tabled. Someone has been hired to provide janitorial services for the church.
Pastoral Councils
Father’s vision is to establish a "Parish Pastoral Council" comprised of both the English and Spanish councils. Both the English and the Spanish Councils are established and moving forward. Jim Erickson has made some suggestions on how to get the groups together. Roger has discussed with the Liturgical committee. Establishing the bridge of these councils will continue to be one of our Parish missions.
Bulletin Update: Judi Faria
Due to cost constraints we are restricted to the template established for the bulletin. We need to re-think how we want to provide access to the parish ministries. One suggestion was to incorporate an Initial Voice Response (IVR) system. This would incur additional costs that are not yet known. Judi with assistance from Dave McIntyre will find out how much these costs will be.
Liturgy workshop
Roger Martin has volunteered to coordinate the workshop with Fr. Osuna & Fr. Galvin for sometime in February.
NEW BUSINESS
GUEST SPEAKER: Larry Del Chiaro on the building fund
Larry and Bob submitted to the council that we reconsider the sale of the adjoining church property. Although we have generated a substantial amount of monies we have reached a plateau in our fund-raising.
a. The council had some questions that will need to be discussed further.
b. Julian requested that Larry submit a summary report that will present a breakdown of the building fund, including any projected loans needed from the Diocese.
c. This will also need to be submitted to the Finance Committee
Planning for Anniversary Ordination Fr. Bernardino(15 min)
Janice Contreras has volunteered to start the coordination of this celebration event. The council reviewed the church schedule and dates were tentatively scheduled either in late May or mid June. These will be confirmed by next meeting.
a. A committee will be needed to help Janice coordinate this celebration
OTHER BUSINESS:
Pastoral Missions and Goals for 2005 will be brought forward to our next meeting.
Financial Report: Larry Contreras will present to the Council at the next meeting.
Parish projects: Bathroom construction and Stained Glass brief discussion held will need to get a report from Clyde.
Thanks to all for your support and involvement in our council mission.
