The ministry of Altar Server, sometimes called an
acolyte, is among the earliest of all liturgical roles. Only the ministries of
the presider (priest) and deacon have a longer history and a place closer to
the altar during the celebration of the Eucharist.
As altar servers, you play an important role in the
celebration of Holy Mass, and are a valuable asset to the priest and the parish
community.
Although
the duties of the altar server are many and varied, the most important
responsibility of the altar server during Mass is to pray!
- To be an altar server at St.
Anthony, you must first have received the Sacrament of Reconciliation and
made your First Communion.
